About the Community Builder Award

This accolade aims to spotlight and honor leaders or businesses in Northwest Michigan who’ve built, improved, or creatively utilized a space that has significantly enhanced the community. The award recognizes those who have steadfastly supported us in our mission and the many leaders in our community who are making an impact.

The 2024 Community Builder Award recipient will be presented with an award including a gift of $2,500, which they may allocate to a nonprofit of their choice, including their own, if the recipient represents a nonprofit entity. All Community Builder nominees will be recognized at the awards ceremony on Thursday, June 6th, 2024.

At Cunningham-Limp, our core mission is to holistically embrace the communities we serve. Guided by this principle, we exclusively collaborate with partners and clients who share our values rooted in positive community impact. As we commemorate our 40th anniversary, we are proud to introduce the inaugural Cunningham-Limp Community Builder Award.

Submit a Nomination

Nomination Process
Any individual or organization may nominate a candidate, including themselves, for this award.

Nominations should include:

  1. Name of the individual or organization being nominated.
  2.  Contact information for the nominee.
  3. A brief explanation about why the nominee should be considered for the award.

Nominees will then be contacted with application criteria. (Nomination Deadline is May 15th, 2024)

Application Criteria:
Upon receiving a nomination, nominees will receive an application to complete the process. Candidates should articulate, in up to 300 words, the impactful role the candidate has had on the community through a built environment. The nominee must also present a supporting endorsement from a local leader/executive who can speak to the impact of the individual/organization’s nomination. Judges will consider the story behind this organization or individual.

The application process adheres to the following guiding principles:

  • The nominee can be a single individual, a team, or an organization.
  • The nominees’ contributions are not limited to any one industry or sector, public or private.
  • Nominations will commence on April 29th and must be submitted by 11:59 PM on May 15th, 2024.
  • An impartial panel will select the award recipient.
  • The winning nominee or a representative must be present at the “Community Builder Reception” on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, at the West Shore Bank, where the award winner will be announced.

Evaluation Process:
All incoming nominations will be presented to a panel of judges with a straightforward scoring rubric. Emphasis will be placed on how the nomination utilizes both qualitative and quantitative evidence to illustrate how the nominees align with the award criteria and provide tangible and impressive outcomes, serving as a potential blueprint for others.

About Cunningham-Limp:
Cunningham-Limp ("C-L") is a commercial real estate firm with a clear mission: to make a meaningful impact on people, communities, and companies. In the mid 2000s, the team made a pivotal decision to focus exclusively on projects with the potential for significant positive change.
