Cunningham-Limp CEO’s Nonprofit “Eagles for Children” Raises Over $1 Million for Local Charities

In a testament to the remarkable impact of grassroots initiatives, Eagles for Children, founded by Cunningham-Limp’s CEO, Don Kegley, and Co-Founder Hal Zima, recently marked a triumphant milestone at their 2023 banquets in Traverse City and Southfield, Michigan. The heartfelt events saw an astounding $1,337,540 being awarded to 155 children’s charities, pushing the total donations to over $6 million since the program’s inception in 2012.

At Cunningham-Limp, our commitment to giving back is embedded in our ethos, exemplified by our CEO, Don Kegley. In addition to fostering C-L’s “Charitable Promise” of increasing contributions to charities annually, Kegley went above and beyond by co-founding the nonprofit Eagles for Children.

Eagles for Children harnesses a simple yet powerful idea to impact the lives of children in need. Partnering with Country Clubs throughout Michigan, the nonprofit encourages members to pledge a donation each time an eagle is scored within the club throughout the season (2 under par). The result? Over $6 million dollars exclusively dedicated to children’s charities—a ripple effect of goodwill that transforms a single dollar into something monumental.

The generosity displayed by club members this year was truly commendable, with pledges reaching as high as $100 per eagle. Multiplied by hundreds of members across the 20 participating clubs, these contributions are then channeled to local charities in need.

The profound impact of the 2023 banquets, held annually on the two Thursdays before Thanksgiving, resonated deeply with attendees. Inspiring stories about hope and the growth of the EFC organization moved the audience, comprised of nonprofits and club ambassadors, to tears. Notably, adhering to the organization’s promise since its inception, 100% of the funds raised were granted to charities benefiting children.

As the program expands each year, so do the administrative costs. However, these costs are outsourced to ensure that funds raised are solely directed to charity. This commitment is sustained through the support of sponsors, including Cunningham-Limp, which helps fund the administrative costs but has also established an Endowment Fund to further support EFC’s growth.
